Digital release date announced for Garfield movie with Chris Pratt animation

Although the lasagna-loving house cat absolutely hates Mondays, the week began with good news: The Garfield Movie The digital release date has finally been announced by Sony. This comes after the Chris Pratt-directed film was set to hit theaters on May 24, 2024.

The Garfield movie, directed by Mark Dindal, was not a critics’ darling despite its good box office returns, but it managed to win the hearts of audiences. According to its current Rotten Tomatoes rating, the animated film has a critics’ score of 36% and an excellent audience score of 80%. Now, over a month after its theatrical release, the latest Garfield movie will soon be available in every fan’s home.

When is the Garfield movie digital release date?

The Garfield Movie will be available on video-on-demand on July 9th and can be purchased and rented digitally. Additionally, some digital retailers will offer additional features such as deleted scenes, gag reels and more.

The Garfield film centers on the titular cat, who has Monday problems and, after an unexpected reunion with his estranged biological father, is forced to trade his comfortable, pampered life for a life of dangerous adventures with his long-lost father.

“Garfield, the world-famous Monday-hating, lasagna-loving house cat, is about to embark on a wild outdoor adventure! After an unexpected reunion with his long-lost father – scruffy street cat Vic – Garfield and his canine pal Odie are forced to abandon their perfectly pampered lives and accompany Vic on a hilarious, high-stakes robbery,” the official synopsis reads.

The Garfield film features an ensemble cast of voices, including Pratt as the spoiled orange cat, Samuel L. Jackson as Garfield’s estranged biological father Vic, Nicholas Hoult as Jon Arbuckle, Hannah Waddingham as Jinx, Harvey Guillén as Odie, Brett Goldstein as Roland, Bowen Yang as Nolan, Ving Rhames as Otto, Cecily Strong as Marge Malone, Janelle James as Olivia, Snoop Dogg as Maurice, and the late Angus Cloud as Snickers.
