The ARKHAM ASYLUM series will not continue at maximum speed

We must cancel our visitor pass for Gotham City’s most notorious mental institution. Via diversitywe learned that the Max streaming service does not work with the proposed Arkham Asylum Series that was officially announced in late 2022. This would have been the first Batman-centric series set in James Gunn’s new DCU, not in The Batman Universe, like the coming penguin Series. Antonio Campos developed the series, which originally began as part of Matt Reeves’ universe before changing direction. Apparently, DC Studios and Warner Bros. have not ruled out another version of the series. Arkham Asylum series in the future.

This series has gone through several changes since 2020. Originally, it was a show about the Gotham police force. That evolved into a show about Arkham Asylum itself, where Gotham City’s most mentally disturbed criminals live. So basically any Batman enemy not named Catwoman or Ra’s al Ghul. Creators like Terrance Winter and Joe Barton came to develop the project, but both left with creative differences. The latest iteration by Antonio Campos was described as “a horror movie or haunted house that is Arkham.” That sounds pretty cool to us.

If we had to guess why they supported the development of Arkham Asylumit could have something to do with the DCU setting. If DC Studios hasn’t introduced its Batman yet, how do you introduce your main villains in another series first? Whoever the director may be Batman: The Legend of Brave may want to have a say in who plays their version of the Joker. Or Poison Ivy, or other famous Arkham inmates. More than anything, this could hold up the progress of Arkham Asylum. However, we believe that an Arkham-based series will see the light of day at some point. We’ll just have to wait a little longer.
