Michigan State Basketball makes it into the top 3 for 4-star top 60 recruits

Every Michigan State basketball fan is patiently waiting to see when the Spartans will make a splash in the 2025 recruiting class. Tom Izzo and his team have been doing a lot of work lately, but for some reason they haven’t received a commitment yet.

It was recently revealed that they are heavily courting the best player in the 2026 class, but that obviously doesn’t impact the 2025 class. But with the 2025 class being the priority right now, I was really hoping to see some news on that front soon.

And fortunately, that was the case on Monday when Michigan State learned they had placed in the top three for one of the top recruits in the class of 2025.

Jordan Scott is a four-star forward from Reston, Virginia. He is the No. 51 player in the country according to 247Sports. Scott is also the No. 9 forward in the country and the No. 2 player from the state of Virginia.

Also in Scott’s top three are Virginia Tech and Maryland. On paper, these programs appear to be able to beat Michigan State, but both are much closer to Scott’s hometown, which could play a role in his recruitment.

No official predictions have been made about his recruitment yet, but Michigan State will have to fancy his chances. According to 247Sports, MSU is the only one of the three programs that has an official visit scheduled for September 8th. This day quickly became an important day for the staff, as they could very well win this recruitment during this visit.

According to On3’s prediction engine, Michigan State has the best odds of the three schools to win this recruiting. While that’s not an official prediction, it could be a sign that MSU has a narrow lead.

Time will tell how this recruitment plays out, but with Izzo on MSU’s side, we should be pretty confident.
