“Love It Or List It”-Hilary and David agree that a home trend is not for them

In Season 12, Episode 12 of “Love It or List It” (via HGTV on YouTube), Hilary Farr and David Visentin entered their clients’ grand entryway with gorgeous high ceilings, only to look up and see a large deer head peeking across the room. “Oh dear,” David muttered, “literally, oh deer.” Hillary stepped back in disgust, both cringing at the sight of the animal on the wall. Hilary quickly pushed herself out of the room and covered her eyes, while David said to her dear new friend, “Let’s go. Adios.” By the end of the episode, the couple ultimately decided to “love it” and stay in their current home, but the decapitated deer was certainly a “list it” reaction from Hilary and David.

In an article for HuffPost, Hilary wrote, “I can just about tolerate a giant trophy fish pinned to the wall, but all the cowhide rugs under the coffee tables make me sick, and seeing goat antlers on a side table or used as bookends makes me feel really sick.” Hilary’s disgusted reaction may seem extreme to some, but it’s completely understandable to animal lovers and those who know that taxidermy in the home can be an insidious pest control problem. David is less open about his feelings on animal welfare, but he was once a vegetarian, so he’s probably more disgusted by wild game on the wall than finding it on his plate.
