“Just cancelled” thriller among Sam’s Club customers because of previous free gift – price increase will hit wallets within a few weeks

“Just cancelled” thriller among Sam’s Club customers because of previous free gift – price increase will hit wallets within a few weeks

Members of the SAM’S Club are considering leaving the chain after it announced it would eliminate a free benefit.

The members-only wholesaler and Costco competitor limits its free deliveries to certain orders.

Sam’s Club offers two membership levels and some members currently receive free shipping on all online orders.

Plus members who pay $110 annually for their perks will soon lose them.

Starting August 19, Plus members will only receive free shipping on orders valued at $50 or more, the company told its members.

This means a delivery fee of $8 for online orders totaling less than $50.

The announcement also said that some Plus members are eligible for same-day deliveries, but again, these are only free on orders of $50 or more.

Sam’s Club, which is owned by Walmart, said it “understands” the frustration on social media but did not indicate that it would change course.

This has resulted in some buyers cancelling their Plus membership.

MEMBER MADNESS

A member contacted X to complain about the change.

“I have been a member for 15 years and I PAY for membership for a reason, and that is not to pay more for shipping,” they said, tagging Sam’s Club.

They said the change had made them competitors.

I left $150 worth of groceries behind after being turned away at Costco, all because of their “unbelievable” card membership policies

“Literally just canceled my membership and switched to Costco,” they said.

According to Costco’s website, it offers grocery delivery in some stores.

Grocery shipping is free only on orders over $75.

However, for smaller orders, the flat fee is only $3-$5 lower than Sam’s Club.

CLUB BREAK

Sam’s Club has repeatedly attracted trouble in recent weeks with the change to its Plus membership.

One member sharply criticized the move, calling it “one of the stupidest decisions.”

Others said they were considering downgrading their membership.

Although Plus memberships still include additional perks, some argue that the $110 price tag is not worth it.

A regular Sam’s Club membership costs $60.

Sam’s Club defended its change in a statement to the US Sun, adding that it would make more items eligible for free shipping.

Some have expressed their anger over the parking of horse-drawn carriages at Costco in Pennsylvania.
