Dwayne Johnson reveals big update on Moana live-action film

Vaiana – The wonderful world of love Star Dwayne Johnson has shared an important update on Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation of the acclaimed 2016 animated film. On Instagram, Johnson confirmed that production of the live-action film Vaiana – The wonderful world of love The film is currently scheduled to open sometime in August, three months before the animated sequel hits theaters on November 27. He also expressed his excitement at getting the chance to further highlight Polynesian culture with the upcoming live-action adaptation. “It is our great honor to share the legends, songs, dances and traditions of our Polynesian culture with all of you and your families around the world,” Johnson wrote.Production begins this August.”

The live action Vaiana – The wonderful world of love The film is directed by Emmy nominee Thomas Kail, best known for directing Lin-Manuel Miranda’s award-winning Broadway musical. Hamilton. Disney finds its live-action cast for “Vaiana”

Last June, Disney announced that 17-year-old Catherine Laga’aia from Sydney, Australia, had been officially chosen to play the role of Moana in the upcoming live-action remake. This will be the young actress’ film debut after previously appearing in Moana (2023). The Lost Flowers by Alice Hart series starring Sigourney Weaver. “I am thrilled to accept this role because Moana is one of my favorite characters,” Laga’aia said in a previous statement when her casting was first confirmed. “My grandfather is from Fa’aala, Palauli, in Savai’i. And my grandmother is from Leulumoega Tuai on the main island of ‘Upolu in Samoa. I am honored to have the opportunity to celebrate Samoa and all Pacific Island peoples and to represent young girls who look like me.”

Release window for live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch revealed

The release window for Disney’s live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch, which is currently in post-production, has reportedly been announced.

In addition to Laga’aia and Johnson, John Tui (Hobbs & Shaw, Young Rock) as Moana’s father, Chief Tui; Frankie Adams (Mortal Engines, The wide) as Moana’s mother Sina; and Rena Owen (siren, Whina) as Gramma Tala. Their characters were voiced in the original animated film by Jemaine Clement, Nicole Scherzinger and Rachel House. The original synopsis for the Vaiana – The wonderful world of love Remake is: “We celebrate the islands, communities and traditions of the Pacific Islanders in a spectacular adventure, Vaiana – The wonderful world of love will bring the story of a young woman who wants to go her own way to life in a whole new way.”


The Vaiana – The wonderful world of love The live-action film is scheduled to hit theaters on June 27, 2025.
