26-year-old grandmother from New Haven stabbed to death, suspect on the run

The incident occurred on Saturday, July 6, around 2:15 p.m. in New Haven.

According to Officer Christian Bruckhart of the New Haven Police, officers were called to the emergency room at Yale-New Haven Hospital’s St. Raphael campus because a stabbing victim arrived in a private vehicle.

The police immediately set up a crime scene at the main entrance of the hospital, where the vehicle was parked.

They were able to confirm that the attack took place on Orchard Street, but were unsure of the exact location, Bruckhart explained.

While officers were securing the scene, a caller reported that there was blood on the sidewalk and fence at an address in the area of ​​Orchard Street and Henry Street.

Additional officers responded to the scene and discovered another crime scene.

Bruckhart said the victim, a 26-year-old New Haven resident, was pronounced dead by medical personnel and suffered multiple apparent stab wounds.

Detectives were immediately on site to investigate both crime scenes.
