Required skills

You bring a proven track record of building successful swim programs as a head coach and/or age group coach that perform at a high level of competition. You can successfully balance the demands of the competitive swim program with developmental/learn to swim programs that effectively utilize the entire coaching staff and keep the athletes at the center. Most importantly, you want to lead and grow a swim team in beautiful Central Oregon.

Your coaching experience

• Over 7 years coaching experience with a track record of guiding developmental and elite swimmers in technique, race strategy, swimming technique, age appropriate dryland techniques and training methods. Good understanding of overall training balance in distance, sprint and taper techniques.
• Ability to analyze swimmers’ performance and create appropriate training sessions that reflect these observations.
• Current USA Swimming coaching staff member in good standing including lifeguard, first aid, and all required USA Swimming coaching courses and certifications.
• Experience in competitive swimming, preferably at college level or above.
• Previous experience working for a nonprofit organization and working with a board of directors to develop annual business plans to support the diverse needs of swim groups is an advantage.

Your main tasks

• Team and athlete development, including development and monitoring of all swimming and dryland programs.
• Ensure competition opportunities for all athletes and the conduct of organized competitions.
• Serve as lead coach for one or more training groups.
• Regular communication with athletes, team families and community stakeholders.
• Responsible for recruiting, training and developing employees.
• Oversee and manage daily business operations.
• Attend regular board meetings.
• Work with the board to develop and implement policies and procedures.
