A famous American actor was spotted dining at a popular pub in Co Laois.

Chris Colfer, best known for his leading role in the hit series “Glee”, visited Treacy’s Pub and Restaurant on the outskirts of Portlaoise on The Heath.

Chris, who played the role of Kurt Hummel in the American musical comedy-drama television series, stopped by the pub for a bite to eat during filming.

“We were thrilled to have the amazing Chris Colfer join us for dinner yesterday,” said a post on Treacy’s Pub and Restaurant’s Facebook page.

“For those of you who don’t know Chris, he played the role of Kurt Hummel in the award-winning series Glee for many years and is currently filming here on location.”

Chris was born in California but has Irish ancestry. The 34-year-old is not only an actor and singer, but also a talented author.
