Fringe 2024 – Singer Victoria Mature pays tribute to her late father

Singer Victoria Mature will pay tribute to her late father Victor Mature, one of the most popular leading men of Hollywood’s Golden Age, in an intimate cabaret at the Assembly Rooms in August.

The show uses music from Broadway to opera, folk and pop, as well as film clips inspired by Victor’s extraordinary career. The show runs August 1-25.

Victor Mature was a stage and screen actor in Hollywood in the 1940s and 1950s. His best known film roles include One Million BC, Kiss of Death, My Darling Clementine, and the biblical epics Samson and Delilah and The Robe. Mature also performed with some of Hollywood’s most beautiful leading ladies, including Hedy Lamarr, Rita Hayworth, and Betty Grable. Despite his obvious versatility as an actor, Mature was best known for his muscular and imposing appearance in a toga.

“For years, my father’s biblical epics were shown on television around the world every Christmas and Easter. He became synonymous with sandal films and biblical films. You may know Victor Mature as Doc Holliday or Samson or Demetrius… I knew him as Dad!” Victoria Mature

Victoria Mature is a San Diego-based opera singer with an international career. In addition to her performing career, Victoria has spent the last 5 years helping to bring Victor Mature’s films to the public’s attention by attending and presenting his films at classic film festivals both here and abroad.

To celebrate his 30th anniversary at the Fringe, Olivier Award-winning Guy Masterson presents his two most popular shows at Pleasance at EICC – Under Milk Forest, the world-famous solo of Dylan Thomas’ lyrical masterpiece on 14.th August at 6 p.m. and Animal farm on 18.th August at 6 p.m. Guy also directs Clara Francesca in Marx make, in the Assembly Drawing Room (1-25 August, 11.35 a.m.) in a production in which Jenny Marx, Karl’s wife (and brain), is given a voice.
