Jennifer Lopez posts song about being single amid breakup rumors with Ben Affleck

Is Jennifer Lopez sending a message about the state of her love life?

The 54-year-old singer released a clip from her 2021 music video for “Cambia el Paso” – a song about embracing change and being “single” – as her marriage to Ben Affleck appears to be in crisis.

Lopez shared the video on Instagram on Sunday to celebrate the third anniversary of the song’s release.

In one part of the video, the “Hustlers” star dances on the beach in a silver bikini and denim shorts.

“Happy anniversary Cambia El Paso…” she wrote in her caption.

Lopez sang and co-wrote the song with Rauw Alejandro. It was originally released a few months after her engagement to Alex Rodriguez ended.

The lyrics, translated from Spanish to English, include: “Her life is better now without him / She knows her hips won’t let her down / She don’t need nobody to be healthy / She don’t fail, she don’t fail.”

“She stays single / Now she loves whoever she wants,” the lyrics continue.

Lopez spoke about the meaning behind the song in an interview with SiriusXM in July 2021.

“The song is about change and not being afraid to take the step,” she said. “Just take the step, make progress, do what you have to do.”

She continued, “If something doesn’t feel right, whatever it is in your life, just do something and dance.”

Lopez revived the music video after celebrating the Fourth of July in the Hamptons without Affleck, 51.

The couple, who tied the knot following their shocking reconciliation in 2022, have reportedly been separated since March.

Divorce rumors began in early May when Lopez attended the 2024 Met Gala without her husband. Shortly after, it was reported that Affleck was living in a different home than Lopez – and then it was reported that they had put their $60 million marital home in Beverly Hills up for sale.

“If there was a way to divorce on the grounds of temporary insanity, he would do it,” a Page Six source said of Affleck in May.

The insider added: “He feels like the last two years have been a fever dream and now he’s come to his senses and understands it’s just not going to work.”

The stars spent most of the summer apart: Lopez traveled to Italy and France without the “Argo” actor, who stayed at home in Los Angeles.

A source told People that Lopez – who canceled her world tour due to marital problems – is “grateful” for the time to herself and that she and Affleck are “doing their own thing so far this summer.”

Over the Fourth of July weekend, Lopez was spotted in New York City and then in the Hamptons, where she went for a bike ride with her singing coach, Stevie Mackey. She wore her wedding ring in a photo Mackey shared of the couple.

Affleck wore his wedding ring while having lunch with his 15-year-old daughter Seraphina in LA on July 5. However, he took the jewelry off when he went out to eat with 18-year-old Violet the week before.

Lopez and Affleck have not publicly commented on the rumors about their marriage.
