Evans returns to the action genre after a decade-long break

chaos will be Evans’ first action film since he The Raid 2 a decade ago. After The Raid 2Evans turned his attention to another genre and directed the 2018 gothic folk horror film apostlewhich represents a drastic creative departure from The attack Films. Since then, Evans has also worked on the crime series Gangs of Londonbased on the video game of the same name that premiered in 2020. Gangs of London was much more action-oriented than apostlebut it is still not an action spectacle like The attack Movies.

Evans has not made another action film since then The Raid 2. chaos will mark his return to the genre that made him famous. And considering how great he is at directing action – and how overwhelming the best action sequences in The attack franchise – that’s very exciting. It’s like Steven Spielberg going back to make another shark movie, or Ridley Scott going back to make another futuristic noir; Evans is in his element in the action genre.

Already in 2021, Netflix confirmed chaos was in the works. It was announced that Evans would direct chaos from a script he wrote as part of his exclusive contract with NetflixHardy was chosen to lead a star-studded cast that included film legends such as Forest Whitaker, Timothy Olyphant and Luis Guzmán in supporting roles. Principal photography began in July 2021 in Cardiff and it has been declared one of the biggest films ever produced in Evans’ native Wales. Filming officially wrapped in October 2021, but now, almost three years later the film has still not been released.

There were reports that chaos was ready and just waiting for its release. However, there were conflicting reports that there were delays in the release of the film. There were further reports that the film had gone into reshoots. It was supposed to be released sometime in 2023, but that didn’t happen. Now it is mid-2024 and chaos is no closer to appearing on Netflix. The streamer has not yet announced a release date for chaos – or even a release window – and there isn’t even a teaser trailer to promote the film.

Why The Raid 3 never existed

Evans devoted himself to other projects

Although the first two The attack Films were really successful, The Raid 3 never happened. Before The Raid 2In the press release, Evans said that The Raid 3 was in progress and it would be a few hours before the end of the The Raid 2. In a later interview, however, Evans said he wanted to take a few years off from martial arts films before working on The Raid 3. Evans, of course, took this break from the genre and it ended up lasting more than a few years.

Evans later said he had no plans for The Raid 3. He felt that the franchise ended satisfactorily with The Raid 2and upon returning to the UK he felt he had closed that chapter of his life and wanted to explore new projects instead. So it doesn’t seem as if The Raid 3 will ever be made. But I don’t mind not having any Raid 3 If chaos is just as exciting and action-packed as The Raid 3 would have been.
