Many well-known golf stars took part in the world-famous tennis championships in Wimbledon last week before a busy period in their own sport.
The Scottish Open, Evian Championship, Open Championship and AIG Women’s Open Championship all take place in the coming days and weeks, with many of the top players hoping to realise their own Major ambitions.
But before attention turned back to the swing of the racket, several golf stars were on Centre Court to hear the “hiss” and “smack” of the tennis racket on the ball at one of the most famous sporting venues in the world.
Justin Rose and his wife Kate were in the Royal Box on day three of Wimbledon to watch Daniil Medvedev defeat Alexandre Müller, Emma Navarro beat Naomi Osaka and Jannik Sinner narrowly beat Matteo Berrettini in a thrilling battle between two top Italian players.
Rose’s day off came a day after he played 36 holes and qualified for the Open at Royal Troon via the final qualifier. On X, the Englishman said: “One of my favourite days of the year @Wimbledon. My body is still recovering from yesterday’s 36 holes!! Thanks again for all the support.”

One man who did not need to qualify to book his tee time at Royal Troon was Rose’s Ryder Cup teammate Ludvig Aberg. The world number four was on Centre Court on Sunday with his girlfriend Olivia – who played college tennis at Texas Tech between 2018 and 2023 – to watch reigning Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz win in four sets against France’s Ugo Humbert and Britain’s Emma Radacanu lose to New Zealand’s Lulu Sun.
Like any golfer who sees a perfectly manicured lawn, Aberg admitted he was desperate to get a shot off the golf club. In his own Instagram post, Aberg said: “Me and @olivia_jorgipeet at @wimbledon. I was desperate to get a full 60 on the grass course. Thanks @rolex!”
Aberg was present at Wimbledon on a day that saw several high-profile names from a variety of sports in the Royal Box on Centre Court.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, Britain’s most successful male and female Olympians of all time, Sir Jason Kenny and his wife Dame Laura Kenny (cycling), England captain and European champion Leah Williamson and Britain’s most successful sailor of all time, Sir Ben Ainslie, sat alongside world number 8 Charley Hull in the VIP reserved seats.
Hull simply posted on Instagram: “I love tennis” and captioned a photo of herself posing in front of Centre Court.
The Englishwoman wasn’t the only Solheim Cup star to enjoy the venue synonymous with strawberries and cream, however. Anna Nordqvist, Emily Kristine Pedersen and Rose Zhang are all pictured here at the championships in south-west London.

Ladies European Tour golfer Gemma Dryburgh shared a photo on social media of herself watching a tennis match on an outdoor court.
Many of the above names return to more familiar territory this week with the Evian Championship and Scottish Open on the schedule.
