Matt Hardy on whether MITB has replaced Survivor Series as the “Big Four” of WWE PLE

On the latest episode of Extreme Life Of Matt Hardy, the AEW star talked about the importance of the Money in the Bank Premium Live Event as part of WWE programming and more. Check out some highlights below:

On the question of whether MITB should have its own standalone event or take place at WrestleMania: “I enjoyed it at WrestleMania, I thought it was good. But I also understood that it kind of grew beyond being at WrestleMania. And it’s something – since they want to do a pay-per-view every month or so to maximize revenue, I understand that. It’s a concept that kind of stands on its own. And especially when you do a men’s match and a women’s match, it works. So I understand why they do it. From a business perspective, it makes perfect sense.”

On the question of whether MITB is one of the “Big Four” of the WWE PLE: “Interesting. I don’t know. I still think Survivor Series is really cool. I don’t know if I’d say it’s replaced it in the top four. But I would definitely say Money in the Bank is one of the more popular pay-per-views, especially because of the ladder match. And I think people love ladder matches. Sometimes people say they’re over the top and stuff. But I mean, Money in the Bank is obviously a must-see because there are guaranteed to be two ladder matches and both of them have pretty big stakes. And that’s like, if your husband or wife wins those matches, it’s going to be a good year for them. And there’s going to be a lot of exciting segments. And I think that just adds to the unpredictability, which I like more than anything.”

About the WrestleMania 22 MITB match: “Yeah, it’s a unique cast and crew. But they’re all really good guys. All the guys that are here right now. There are guys that are talented, that are kind of ‘ladder match’ guys, extreme match guys, DQ matches, you know. I’m talking about me and RVD… Shelton Benjamin. Then there’s a couple of legends like Fit Finlay and Ric Flair. And then there’s a powerhouse in Bobby Lashley. So it’s an interesting combination.”
