Detailed insights into the recent NBA contract extensions of 4 Michigan State basketball players

If you don’t follow the NBA closely, you probably missed some important news about several Michigan State basketball players. Luckily, I’ve got you covered.

Four former Spartan stars just extended their contracts and will remain with their current teams, which is very impressive in itself.

Tom Izzo has a great group of guys around him in the NBA and the fact that four of them signed new contracts within a few days of each other is impressive.

But what do these contracts mean for their future? We all know that some contracts are just “filler contracts” for supporting players, while other contracts are for the stars and best players on the team. So by looking at the contracts themselves, we can get a sense of how each organization views that individual player.

So let’s take a look at the four Michigan State Spartans who just signed contract extensions and see what stands out about their respective contracts.

The first Spartan to sign a new NBA contract was Max Christie with the LA Lakers. This move surprised me a little since Christie hasn’t had the best start to his career, but his contract tells me the Lakers think highly of him.

Los Angeles signed Christie to a four-year, $32 million deal on June 30. While that’s a lot of money for regular people like us, it’s not that much by NBA standards. What strikes me, though, is the length of the contract.

Four years is no joke. A lot of players sign for one or two years, but Los Angeles giving Christie a four-year deal tells me they like what they see.

Christie is coming off a season where he only averaged 4.2 points per game, but it seems like the Lakers believe he will develop and improve drastically in the coming years and that’s why they gave him this solid contract.
