Gophers extend offer for QB phenom Trae Taylor for 2027

Trae Taylor, the 2027 quarterback at Caramel Catholic High School, announced Tuesday that he has been offered a scholarship by the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

The 6’2″ signal caller is one of the best sophomores at his position in the country. He has big-name offers from Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Miami (FL), among others.

Minnesota’s offer comes shortly after Taylor attended a camp hosted by the Badgers in Madison, Wisconsin, on Sunday and then participated in a camp hosted by Illinois on Saturday.

Any quarterback who starts as a freshman on a college team is going to quickly attract attention on the recruiting scene. But attracting attention as a freshman is no problem for Taylor, considering Maryland offered him a scholarship in seventh grade.

In his announcement, Taylor said Minnesota is his mother’s “home state.”

When the official rankings are released, Taylor will likely be one of the best players in the country regardless of position, so the Gophers will have to compete with the big guys to land the talented teenager.
