New Delhi: The teaser of the highly anticipated “F1,” a film directed by Joseph Kosinski and starring Brad Pitt, was recently released and received critical acclaim for its adrenaline-fueled setting against the backdrop of Formula 1, which is also one of the film’s creators. In collaboration with Formula 1’s governing body, the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the film is scheduled to hit theaters in summer 2025 and is currently in the principal photography phase.

The sports action drama is directed by Kosinski, a star of “Top Gun: Maverick,” and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Pitt himself and seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton. The film’s plot revolves around Pitt as former Formula 1 driver Sonny Hayes, who comes out of retirement to mentor up-and-coming talent Joshua Pearce (played by Damson Idris) at the fictional Apex Grand Prix (APXGP) team.

In the teaser, Pitt is seen as Idris’ mentor and driving the fast car himself, against the backdrop of Formula 1, where he is part of the Apex Grand Prix (APXGP) team, whose boss Ruben (Javier Bardem) also seems to play a crucial role. The female lead is played by Kerry Condon, known from Better Call Saul, who plays Kate and is seen in the teaser as part of Pitt’s team.

The most notable element is undoubtedly the chart hit “We Will Rock You” by the band Queen, which is played along with the cars racing along the track and creates an overall unmistakable atmosphere.

Pictures and Apple Original Films and is scheduled to be released internationally in theaters and IMAX on June 25, 2025, and in North America on June 27, 2025.

The cast also includes Shia Wigham, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia and Samson Kayo in leading roles, with Hamilton, Max Verstappen, Carlos Sainz Jr., Sergio Pérez, Benoit Treluyer and the rest of the F1 drivers and team members appearing in their own roles.
