Brady Singer threw seven dominant innings to lead the Kansas City Royals to a 10-1 victory over the Colorado Rockies in Denver on Sunday.

Singer (5-5) allowed one run on six hits while allowing seven strikeouts and two walks to earn his first win since May 19. The victory ended a three-game losing streak for the Royals.

Bobby Witt Jr. finished the game 3-for-5, including a three-run home run, while Maikel Garcia had two hits and a three-run home run of his own.

Tanner Gordon (0-1) started for Colorado and made his MLB debut. The 26-year-old right-hander threw 6 1/3 innings with five runs and eight hits, striking out four players.

Jake Cave scored two of three hits for the Rockies, whose three-game winning streak came to an end.

After a scoreless first inning, Salvador Perez and Michael Massey opened the second with singles for Kansas City. Freddy Fermin then hit a ground ball up the middle to score the game’s first run.

After Gordon took MJ Melendez out of the game, Garcia hit his sixth home run of the year, a 382-footer that gave the Royals a 4-0 lead.

The Rockies became dangerous in the third inning when Michael Toglia got a walk and then advanced to second base on Nolan Jones’ sacrifice bunt. Aaron Schunk then hit the first hit of his career, putting runners on the corners for Colorado. However, Singer struck out Charlie Blackmon and Ezequiel Tovar and escaped the pinch.

In the seventh inning, Melendez hit a one-out solo home run, his ninth of the year, to give Kansas City a 5-0 lead. Garcia then reached first base on a bunt single, chasing Gordon after 78 pitches.

Colorado cracked the scoreboard in the bottom of the seventh inning when Cave and Toglia came in with singles before Jones scored on an RBI base hit.

Justin Lawrence pitched for the Rockies in the eighth inning, and Witt and Vinnie Pasquantino each hit a single to start the inning. Two batters later, Massey Witt brought home an RBI single to give the Royals a 6-1 lead. After a wild pitch, Fermin scored the seventh run for Kansas City with a sacrifice fly.

Angel Zerpa came in to replace Singer in the bottom of the eighth inning after 86 pitches. Zerpa threw a scoreless inning.

The Royals scored three more times in the ninth inning when Witt hit his 15th home run of the season, a three-run shot against Ty Blach.
