Did Travis Kelce foreshadow his surprise appearance with Taylor Swift on the Eras tour by doing the following 42 days earlier?

42 days before Travis Kelce surprised Swifties by performing with Taylor Swift on the Eras Tour on Sunday, June 23, he was spotted using his phone camera to record the concert sketch he would later star in.

On May 12, Kelce, 34, was caught with his camera flash on at the fourth Eras tour show in Paris, filming Swift, 34, transitioning from “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” to “I Can Do It with a Broken Heart,” which includes a playful skit and an onstage costume change.

Some are now connecting the dots and suspecting that Swift’s NFL boyfriend – like a smart football player who watches game footage to get better – was taking concert footage to prepare for his next performance, which no one else knew about at the time.

“He was taking notes… we should have known,” a fan on X (formerly Twitter) wrote after Kelce’s surprise appearance, while another fan said“Bro watched the video over and over to learn the choreography.”

“So, you got caught doing an Ed Kelce trick when you took a video with the flash on,” Jason, 36, said of her father. “What are you doing, Trav? You should be better than that.”

Travis replied, “Oh, you know, the camera settings: when it’s dark, it automatically turns on the flash. I just wanted some good, you know, some good videos, some good memories. I don’t give a shit.”

Jason replied, “You probably have a great video – the flash makes a big difference,” before Travis asked, “Was I being screwed for this? Sorry.”

Fast forward to the June 23rd show in London: Travis made his surprise appearance exactly at the time he recorded it on May 12th.

In footage captured by PEOPLE at the London concert, Travis enters the stage through a stage door with Kameron Saunders and Jan Ravnik, who are normally the background dancers for this portion of the show.

During this dramatic transition, the 14-time Grammy winner lies on the stage floor at the end of “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived,” which is presumably about his ex Matty Healy.

At that moment, Travis symbolically lifted the heartbroken performer off the stage and carried her to a sofa area where she could change. Swift, still in performance mode, then reluctantly changed while Travis and the two dancers tried to pull her out of her fictional depression.

Amid wild cheers from the crowd, Swift sang “I Can Do It with a Broken Heart.”

A day after the performance, Swift thanked her boyfriend for the cameo.

“The first round at Wembley was so surreal. Looking out at 90,000 fans every night and hearing that VOLUME,” Swift wrote in the caption of an Instagram post. “Those were some of the loudest crowds I’ve ever heard. The acoustic parts were going LOOSE.”

“And I’m still laughing my head off/falling in love with @killatrav’s debut on the Eras Tour 🥰 I’ll never forget these shows,” she continued. “Can’t wait to do it five more times in August. Next up: Dublin!! 🇮🇪”
