Body of Hinesville firefighter returned home after tragic death

HINESVILLE, Ga. (WTOC) – The body of Hinesville firefighter Chandler Kuhbander has been returned home. His body was found just over a week ago in Cocke County, Tennessee. Kuhbander and Reagan Anderson were last seen on June 25. On June 26, Hinesville police announced that Kuhbander and Anderson were missing.

WTOC spoke with Kuhbander’s mother, Jane Kuhbander, on June 27.

Jane Kuhbander commented on Facebook about the return of her son’s body.

According to a public Facebook comment by Jane Kuhbander, Chandler Kuhbander’s body was escorted from the state line to her home.

She said they wanted to keep the return confidential and secret.

“It was close friends and family from the area, the Liberty County Fire Department, veterans police, the motorcycle association, special people who worked closely on this case, the Hinesville Police Department and friends from Harley Davidson in Savannah,” Kuhbander commented.

In her comment, Kuhbander thanked the public for their kindness during this tragedy.

Regarding the answers to his tragic death, she said: “Yes, he was brought home weak and no, we don’t have all the answers right now. Many of the answers we do have we don’t want to give away yet.”

After his death, Chandler Kuhbander’s family set up a GoFundMe campaign to provide support during this time. They reached just over $9,000 of their $10,000 goal.
