Brian Bogusevic: Mauricio Dubón must be “on the roster” with the Astros

Former Astros outfielder and Space City Home Network analyst Brian Bogusevic joins Next Up after the Astros defeated the Chicago White Sox 4-1 at Guaranteed Rate Field on Wednesday.

Hunter Brown started on the mound and delivered his sixth straight good start, allowing just one earned run in six innings. Brown struggled early in the season, allowing 25 earned runs in five starts. But since Brown came out of the bullpen in Detroit in late May, “everything has completely changed,” Bogusevic said. After adding a power sinker to his pitching arsenal, Brown has allowed just seven earned runs in 37 total innings during this stretch of good starts.

Mauricio Dubón started at first base on Wednesday and recorded an RBI and a single, extending his hitting streak to 12 games. “Right now you have to let” Dubón play because his consistent hit “has to be in the lineup.”

The Astros have a chance to win the three-game series against the White Sox on Thursday. “Today we have to win” and “the offense has to take the lead.”

Bogusevic also talks about the Astros drafting right-handed pitcher Jake Bloss, a third-round pick in the 2023 MLB Draft. The 22-year-old is currently playing between High-A Asheville and Double-A Corpus Christi and is expected to make his major league debut on Friday against the Baltimore Orioles.
