The Masked Singer winner Danny Jones says the show changed his voice
What did you miss?
Danny Jones was crowned the winner of this year’s The Masked Singer UK on Saturday night after fellow finalists Lemar Obika and Alex Brooker were unmasked.
In his on-stage interview after his victory, the McFly singer/guitarist admitted to host Joel Dommett and the judges (Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross, Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall and Rob Brydon) that taking part in the series had changed the quality of his voice.
He seemed pretty excited about it too.
What, how and why?
“I had an incredible time,” Jones beamed through a window in his Piranha costume. “I can disappear back here and just be Piranha and sing these songs, you know.”
“I’ve learned so much. I can sing higher now just because I was on this show. I went up a whole note, it’s incredible! I’m so happy. Thank you for making me a champion.”
He has sung on countless tracks on five studio albums with the pop band McFly, including “Is This Still Love” and “Five Colours in Her Hair”, and also released a solo EP in 2019.
What else happened on The Masked Singer UK?
After being revealed as the singer of Bigfoot, The Last Leg co-host Brooker confessed that he specifically asked the costume department for “something cuddly and cute that my kids will love.”
“I love the character, I love Bigfoot. I’m really going to miss him,” he added.
“The Masked Singer” is broadcast on ITV and ITVX.
