Famous 2000s pop star reveals his teenage daughter is in record deal negotiations and wants to follow in his footsteps

GARETH Gates’ daughter follows in her father’s footsteps and dreams of becoming the next pop idol.

The proud 39-year-old father said that he had infected 15-year-old Missy with the entertainment bug and that she now hopes to take the stage by storm in her own career.

Now he hopes to support them and make their dreams come true.

The star told MailOnline: “She has a great voice. She’s a great dancer. The more she’s out there in the music world, the more she learns.”

“She dances every night after school. She goes through all her classes, so to speak.”

He added that he plans to sit down with Missy to write songs in the near future.

The star added that he hopes the tracks will help her land a record deal.

Gareth rose to fame in 2002 after taking part in the talent competition Pop Idol, finishing a respectable second place in a direct competition with Will Young.

He has continued to tour the UK since then and will be touring a tribute show to Franki Valli and The Four Seasons later this year.

So Missy, whom Gareth has with his ex-wife Suzanne, has been in the spotlight since she was born and now wants to try it herself.

Gareth couldn’t be prouder of his little daughter, sharing a photo of her last month and declaring on Instagram: “My greatest achievement in life is you @missygates_x

“Daddy loves you more than the world.”

The news came shortly after Gareth announced his new romance with West End star Allana Taylor.

They met as fellow actors in a pantomime of Jack and the Beanstalk last year and the hitmaker explained that they only started dating after production had finished.

In an exclusive interview with The Sun, he said: “It just happened naturally. We got on really, really well – and on the show we were just friends.”

“It was only after the show that we realized we missed each other’s company, so we had our first date after the show, probably two months later, and yeah, the rest is history.”
