Watch: VIXEN plays free concert with new singer ROSA LARICCHIUTA in Uncasville, Connecticut

VIXEN played a free concert at the Wolf Den at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut on Saturday night (July 6). A fan-filmed video of the show can be seen below (courtesy of Alan Selavka Youtube Channel).

Wolf Den marks VIXENsecond appearance with the band’s new singer Rosa Laricchiuta (TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA, PINS), which VIXEN last month as a replacement for Lorraine Lewis.

Laricchiuta made her live debut with VIXEN on June 21 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California next to BIG WHITE, BUTCHER And SILENT PROTEST.

Laricchiuta is a singer, songwriter and performer from Montreal, Quebec. After several years of experience in live shows, she auditioned for the third season (2015) of “The voice”Quebec’s version of the popular television show “The voice”. Pink immediately connected with the legendary Francophone rocker Eric Lapointe and chose him as her trainer. Pink showed a solid stage presence with remarkable intensity and a voice so powerful that she went straight to the grand finale where she shared the stage with DEF LEPPARD, Kelly Clarkson, Jean-Pierre Leloup and her idol, Melissa EtheridgeShe left a lasting impression and won over millions of viewers who crowned her Quebec’s new It Rocker.

She then released an album on the Quebec market before starting work on her first English-language album in 2016. This album, “Free”was released the following year and at the end of the year she joined the popular American band TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA for their annual mega tour through the United States.

Laricchiuta‘s hard rock project LABYRINTH OF THE BLACK ROSE released his self-titled debut album in August 2020 via Frontiers Music Srl.

VIXEN has more than a dozen more shows planned for the summer and early fall.

In a recent appearance on the Battleline Podcast, VIXEN guitarist Brittany Denaro (also known as Britt Blitz) discussed the decision to withdraw from LewisWhen asked what she would say to fans who are worried that VIXEN bears little resemblance to the band that had its breakthrough in the late 1980s, with drummer Roxy Petrucci as the only remaining member from VIXEN‘s classic line-up, Britt said: “Yes, well, I think Roxy is definitely committed to preserving the musical integrity of the classic VIXEN. And that’s what she said. And I think, for whatever reason, she feels like this change is going to be positive… So, I’m excited. I trust her. She’s been doing this for a long time and she knows what feels right.”

Britt continued: “Sometimes things take their course. And again, I’m not involved in that decision and I don’t have the freedom to really speak about the reasons behind it. But at the end of the day, I guess it doesn’t matter. We’re moving forward, we’re moving forward, and there’s will new music. And I think it’s going to rock. So I’m very excited.”

Britt continued to talk about the importance of getting along with VIXEN’s new singer on a personal level, explaining, “At the end of the day, you have to be talented, of course, but you also have to just be a good and cool person, because we spend a lot of time together. I mean, musicians get paid to travel and then we play the gig, but what are we paid for? To travel. I mean, I flew to South America for a 30-minute show and then I flew right back. So that’s a lot of travel time and not a lot of time to play. And that’s a lot of time to spend together, and when you’re with someone that just drives you crazy, it’s the worst thing ever. And you can feel that on stage too. So you know you’ve got chemistry when – you can feel that on stage, I mean. And I think the audience can always feel it too. So I know it’s going to be great. Roxy Plus, you get to know her better as a person, and if she’s given the green light, then I know it’s going to be good.”

When VIXEN announced LewisFollowing Theodore’s departure from the band on May 27, the group said in a statement: “First of all, we would like to extend a special thank you to Lorraine LewisWe are grateful for your contributions to VIXEN and wish her all the best in her future career. Secondly, thank you to everyone who sent suggestions and inquired about singing for us. We’re letting you all know that we have our new singer and we’re ready to rock! Want to know who it is? Come along and find out! See you on tour!”

On 26 May Lewis released the following statement on their social media: “VIXEN Regular and loyal fans: The band has gone in a different direction and as much as I will miss you, you should know that more rock & roll from me is on the way!

“It has been an honor to front the band since that first show in 2019 and I am forever grateful for the opportunity and the memories that came with it! I had the time of my life and loved rocking out with ALL of you! I can’t wait to rock out with you again soon because trust me girls, I’m not going anywhere!! I love you.”
