JUNIOR EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS 2024

British 15-year-old Theodora Taylor set a new record in the girls’ 100-meter breaststroke on Sunday and won the bronze medal at the European Junior Championships.

Taylor stopped the clock at 1:08.59, beating the British age record for 15-year-old girls (1:08.60), which Rebecca Ajulu-Bushell already established in 2009. She improved her previous best time of 1:09.19 from March by more than half a second.

Taylor is just a few seconds behind the Welsh overall record of 1:06.88, which Chloe Tutton at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

It is the second medal of the week for Taylor, who took silver in the 200m breaststroke on Friday with a personal best of 2:28.71. She is still a few seconds off the British age record of 2:26.55, which Lara Bate published in 2015
