Dwayne Johnson sings his favorite song from “Vaiana” to a 4-year-old

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson surprised us all with his singing talent as the lovable, shape-shifting demigod Maui in the Disney hit. Vaiana – The wonderful world of love.

But it’s his off-screen performance for a very special four-year-old girl that’s currently causing a stir on social media.

Maui’s biggest fan

Johnson may play some of the toughest guys on the planet, but he’s proven time and time again that behind his incredibly muscular, Herculean facade lies the heart of a sweet little teddy bear.

When he’s not lifting weights in the gym, drinking tequila or making a fortune from the next big Hollywood blockbuster, he performs miracles for seriously ill children.

As someone who regularly grants wishes for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, he is no stranger to making dreams come true. He sometimes even grants more than one wish PER DAY.

When he received an urgent request from a little girl in hospice who loves Maui, he immediately dropped everything to fulfill the request.

Lily Guerrero is four years old. Her favorite treats are Outshine Purple Popsicles and Watermelon Blowpops. She loves pink and playing peek-a-boo and watching Moana “all day, every day.” And heartbreakingly, she is now in a hospice home and can no longer communicate verbally due to a feeding tube.

But she can still “see and hear and react” and wanted nothing more than for Maui to You’re welcome and recorded it so she could listen to it “over and over and over again.” Johnson, although her singing skills were a little rusty, was happy to oblige.

Dwayne Johnson fulfills a little girl’s wish

At the request of Lily’s parents, Johnson shared his good deed, worthy of a demigod, on Instagram and captioned the emotional video, among other things: “I had to share this ‘Rush’ wish with you all ❤️🌎✨”

“This is a special wish from Make-A-Wish and is called a rush wish,” Johnson told the camera. “And a rush wish means what the implication sounds like, which is that time is just not on our side.”

He continued, “Of course, Mom and Dad asked me to share this wish on social media to share Lily’s spirit and strength and her mana, and of course we take that energy and send it right back to Lily.”

He then revealed that he was sitting at a piano, but jokingly added, “Actually, I’m not good at the piano,” and opted to record the music instead.

“I’m going to try not to screw this up,” he joked before launching into a soulful rendition of the song written by Lin-Manuel Miranda. You’re welcome.

After his performance, he turned directly to Lily and said:

“Thank you for letting me fulfill your wish. I sang ‘You’re Welcome’ in probably a few keys that don’t even exist. I hope you enjoyed it, and Lily, you are very special.”

Using your fame for good

In addition to being a global phenomenon, Johnson has made a habit of using his celebrity status for good causes. His philanthropic efforts are far-reaching, and he works with a number of different charities, including his own, the Dwayne Johnson Rock Foundation, which aims to help families and children in need.

And what about his work with the Make-a-Wish Foundation? It’s in his blood. His father, former WWE Tag Team Champion Rocky Johnson, became one of the New Jersey chapter’s first wish-granters when he visited a 10-year-old boy named Bobby Macaluso, who was suffering from Lou Gehrig’s disease, in 1983.

Johnson never forgot it.

“I remember my dad telling me and my mom, ‘There’s a little boy who wants to meet me. He’s really struggling and fighting hard. His only wish is to meet me.’ I was so excited,” Johnson said. “And I remember meeting Bobby and his family. My dad was holding him. It was a very special moment in our lives.”

“It moved me,” he added. “It changed my life even when I was 11 years old.”

And today, 41 years later, he is the one who fulfills wishes and has a lasting impact on people’s lives.

But you don’t have to be a megastar with a mega-budget to make a difference. As Johnson says, it starts with being kind and recognizing the importance of helping others.

“Service is the rent you pay for the room you have here on earth. It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice.”
