Liverpool have confirmed that goalkeeper Adrian is leaving the club after rejecting a new contract – and young Czech goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros will be promoted to third-choice goalkeeper ahead of the new season.

Spanish goalkeeper Adrian, who also played for West Ham during his time in England, was offered a new contract last month but, as Mail Sport reported at the time, he was keen to spend the rest of his years in Spain.

His youth club Real Betis would like to sign him as a free agent.

Adrian, 37, was a key player in the dressing room and well-liked by his teammates, playing a central role in the pre-match warm-ups and helping to coach Alisson and up-and-coming goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.

In total, he made 26 appearances in five seasons.

Adrian is expected to leave Liverpool after the goalkeeper rejected a new contract with the club
The 37-year-old came to Anfield on a free transfer in 2019 after spending five seasons at West Ham.
Czech international Vitezslav Jaros will be the Reds’ third goalkeeper next season.

Now new head coach Arne Slot will put his faith in Brazil number 1 Alisson – who is now on holiday after being eliminated from the Copa America – and Kelleher.

The Irishman has attracted a lot of interest, but so far no club has made any serious declarations of intent to buy him.

Nottingham Forest were one of the interested clubs – they made a £15million offer to sign him in January which was rejected – but they recently signed another goalkeeper in Carlos Miguel.

Liverpool want at least £25 million for Kelleher after he regularly deputised for Alisson last season.

The Reds are now confident that Jaros will be included in the senior goalkeeping team. Jaros, who was born in the Czech Republic, joined Liverpool from Slavia Prague in 2017. He is considered a homegrown player in the official squad lists.

Jaros, 22, was in the Czech Republic squad for Euro 2024 and won the league and cup double last season on loan with Austrian club Sturm Graz – ending RB Salzburg’s 10-year dominance of the Bundesliga Cup. He has also played for St Patrick’s Athletic, Notts County and Stockport County.
