Taylor Swift performs the song live for the first time and gives its lyrics a new meaning

Taylor Swift always adds little twists to her live show.

At Swift’s “Eras Tour” show in Amsterdam on Saturday, the secret song section featured a mashup of “Mary’s Song,” “So High School,” and “Everything Has Changed.”

To conclude, Swift sang the final lyrics of her 2006 song “Mary’s Song,” which was first performed live and can now be read as a reference to her friend and NFL star Travis Kelce: “I’ll be 87, you’ll be 89 / I’ll still be looking at you like the stars that shine / In the sky, oh my goodness.”

Fans cheered when they heard these lines, because the Kansas City Chiefs player’s jersey number is 87 and Swift has an album called 1989.

Kelce was present for the song, along with teammate Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany Mahomes. The couple stopped in Amsterdam during their European vacation.

Swift later changed the lyrics to “Karma” to mention “that guy from the Chiefs” that she always sings when Kelce is in the audience.

Swift will next travel to Zurich, Switzerland, where she will perform two consecutive nights on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Later this summer, she will complete the European leg with five dates in London.
