Max cancels highly anticipated upcoming series

Max has unfortunately canceled a series that fans had been looking forward to for a long time. The Max series would have greatly expanded the world in which it was set – which makes it all the more disappointing that it is no longer continuing.

Therefore, with the recent cancellation, it seems that this particular corner of DC will remain unexplored (for now).

The series was originally supposed to take place in the same universe as The Batman. The plot was later revised and now takes place in the newly created DC universe, which fans will see in James Gunn’s new film. Superman.

Now, however, it seems that this series will not happen either way. The following was stated in a report about the cancellation:

“The planned Arkham Asylum TV series are no longer making progress at Max,” Variety says about the canceled show. Variety also adds that while that series, which would have been written by Antonio Campos and with Campos also serving as showrunner, is no longer running, there is still hope that Arkham will be pursued.

“However, it is still possible that a new project will be developed in the notorious Gotham City Asylum in the future,” their source was indicated.

In the meantime, many new projects are in the works, both for the DCU and for the universe set in Matt Reeves’ The BatmanFor the latter, fans can still look forward to the upcoming Max series The Penguin and the cinema release of Batman – Part IIOn the DCU side, there are various films and television shows in the works – although without Arkham Asylum in the foreground.

Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for more updates on other upcoming DC projects or those that may be cancelled. It’s been an unpredictable few years for DC fans, but hopefully projects like James Gunn’s Superman will be worth it.
