Caitlin Clark has shown that she belongs on the WNBA’s top list after making history by becoming the first rookie ever to record a triple-double on July 7, 2024.

This year’s top WNBA player was in top form after leading the Indiana Fever to an 83-78 win over the New York Liberty and helping her team improve their 9-13 win-loss record in the Eastern Conference.

Clark’s sensational triple-double performance was made even better after Indiana overcame an 11-point deficit early in the fourth quarter.

After a hot start that saw the Fever beat New York 24-18 in the first quarter, the more experienced Liberty team countered in the next two quarters and turned the game around with a game-winning 44-31 run.

However, Clark’s overall performance was the big eye-catcher in the final ten minutes of the game, leading to Indiana’s game-winning 28-16 run in the fourth inning.

After the hard-fought battle against the No. 1 team in the Eastern Conference, Clark recorded 19 points, 13 assists, 12 rebounds and two steals.

Despite making just 7 of 17 field shots, Clark was still able to score points as she aggressively attacked New York’s basket in the second half while also picking apart Liberty’s defense with her great game vision.

Clark’s backing in this big win was star center Aliyah Boston, who contributed 18 goals, eight rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal.

With the win, Indiana just returned to the WNBA’s winning list after losing their last game to the Las Vegas Aces by a score of 88-69.

The Fever will now seek their second consecutive home win against the struggling Washington Mystics on July 11, 2024.
