Love’s has started numbering truck parking spaces. Here’s why

If you’ve been wondering why Love’s Travel Stops puts numbers in the truck parking spaces at some locations, you’re not alone.

Many members of the trucking community recently expressed concern that Love’s might switch to metered parking because they noticed that the rest stop giant now numbers its truck parking spaces at some locations.

CDLLife reached out to Love’s and asked why the seats are numbered.

The company commented as follows:

The truck parking spaces at the new locations are now numbered to help us better serve our customers. They are currently used for safety reasons, among other things. If there is an issue with a driver, we can easily direct emergency services to the truck. It also helps Love’s team members map the truck parking area as they go about their daily tasks..”

Some truck drivers say they are using the new numbered spaces to make it easier for food delivery drivers to locate them.

“I checked with Loves. They said it’s for deliveries like Doordash and Walmart. You can give them a location number so they can find your truck easier. Otherwise they get lost with the five blue Freightliners next to each other,” one person said.

Other truckers say the numbered spots are useful for store employees trying to find a truck in a Love’s parking lot.

“…they do it for safety and for the shop. That way, in case of an emergency, problem, or shop appointment, they can identify you by the numbered parking spot you are in. Example: you need to change a tire. They tell you to park in parking spot #0000. Another example: that driver in parking spot #0000 may be having a medical emergency,” another person wrote.
