Civil War on the Home Front takes place on July 13 and 14 in historic Lyme Village

According to a press release, “Civil War on the Homefront” at Historic Lyme Village, 5001 State Route 4 in Bellevue, will be open to the public on July 13 and 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Historic Lyme Village includes a one-room schoolhouse, a blacksmith shop, three log cabins, a log church, a military museum, a hardware store, barns, an 1836 farmhouse that was a stop on the Underground Railroad, and the 1882 Wright Mansion.

Admission on both days is $15 for adults, $13 for seniors, $6 for children ages 6-12, and free for children ages 5 and under.

Admission includes tours of the Wright Mansion and living history demonstrations, such as period cooking, spinning and weaving, blacksmithing, photography, military drills and more, the press release said.

“Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln” will not be open to the public until July 14, the press release said.

According to the press release, Civil War reenactors will fire cannons every hour on the hour from noon to 3 p.m.

On both days there will be contemporary music and dance in the village square.

Food and drinks will be available on both days in the café in the Carriage House.

“Many dedicated volunteers help bring history to life at Historic Lyme Village,” the press release states. “The museum, its volunteers and the cast members aim to accurately recreate history to educate the public about the lifestyles and events of that time.”
