LUDINGTON, MI – The SS Badger’s scheduled deployment on Sunday has been canceled due to ongoing mechanical repairs.

The ferry was scheduled to arrive in Ludington on Saturday evening, but a mechanical problem occurred after departing Manitowoc, Wisconsin, the ferry service said in a Facebook post.

The problem was identified and corrected, allowing the ship to continue its journey across the lake safely. Due to the delayed arrival, the evening departure to Manitowoc was cancelled.

The ongoing problems continued into Sunday morning, forcing authorities to cancel the 8:45 p.m. crossing from Ludington to Manitowoc on Sunday evening.

“Lake Michigan Carferry apologizes for the unexpected delays and inconvenience to its passengers,” the Facebook post said.

Anyone affected or with questions is asked to call the reservations department at 800-841-4243 to make alternative travel arrangements.
