Prime Minister Dahal calls for vigilance and action in the face of monsoon devastation

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Sunday directed all authorities concerned to make all necessary efforts to protect the lives of people affected by floods and landslides triggered by persistent rains.

Prime Minister Dahal directed all government agencies to actively participate in rescue operations and provide assistance after receiving information from the control room at Singha Durbar about the damage caused by floods and landslides in the country.

The Prime Minister expressed regret over the loss of life and property caused by the floods and landslides and stated that active efforts must be made to rescue and assist the citizens affected by the disaster.

“Systematic preparations have been made for disaster management. We have made every effort to maintain a high level of alert,” Dahal said. “It is expected that there could be significant disaster losses this year. Accordingly, we have made robust preparations for prevention and mitigation. Let us use all our strength to protect people’s lives and property.”

The Prime Minister urged all citizens to take the necessary safety precautions against potential risks and asked all political parties, civil society and social organizations to cooperate in supporting the government’s efforts.

Incessant monsoon rains have wreaked havoc in various parts of the country. The floods and landslides triggered by the heavy rains over the past two days have destroyed several houses, while traffic on major highways and road sections has come to a standstill.
