Sam’s Club customer criticizes chain over rule that determines when members can use warehouse

A customer at a SAM’S Club accused the wholesaler of pushing her closer to the exit door after she was surprised by the chain’s membership rules.

The Costco competitor has different opening hours for its members depending on their subscription.

On weekdays, Sam’s Club Plus subscribers can pick up their groceries earlier because they can use the warehouses two hours before Americans who have purchased a standard membership.

Plus members have access to the camps one hour earlier on Saturdays.

Early shopping hours are just one of the benefits available to Sam’s Club Plus members.

A standard membership typically costs buyers $50 per year, while a Plus subscription costs $110.

Sometimes the chain offers special deals. Customers can purchase a Sam’s Club membership for $20 as part of a special offer, but that deal expires today, July 7.

But the change in opening hours seems to have surprised some shoppers.

Some were even angry that this measure would push them even closer to the exit.

“Sam’s Club is going to force me to cancel my membership!” Cami Hughes-Ross posted on Facebook.

“As a non-member you cannot shop there before 10am! WTH???”

Hughes-Ross concluded her post with three angry emojis.

Others pointed out that the early opening hours are just one of the benefits for Sam’s Club Plus members.

Additionally, members can complete their shopping trips early on holidays such as Labor Day.

The subscription also includes curbside pickup and free shipping benefits.

Curbside pickup is free for Plus members, but those with only the standard membership have to pay an additional four dollars.

Sam’s Club Plus subscribers can also take advantage of curbside pickup Monday through Saturday from 7:00 a.m.

This is three hours earlier than for club members.

Buyers don’t have to worry about a minimum spend amount.

However, they must have their order number and ID ready when picking up the groceries.

Upon arrival at the warehouse, shoppers must park in a designated space and log into the chain’s app.

An employee then brings the order and loads it into his car.

In addition, Plus members can also take advantage of car maintenance services.
