Vanessa Bryant collaborates with Andrew Bernstein on a book commemorating Kobe Bryant Murals

The legacy of the late Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant lives on, thanks in large part to the work of his wife, Vanessa Bryant. She has worked tirelessly to ensure Kobe is never forgotten and his presence is felt everywhere, especially in LA.

One of the best works Bryant produced during his lifetime was his book, The Mamba Mentality: How I Play, which he co-authored with famed photographer Andrew Bernstein. The book looked at Kobe’s 20-year NBA career through the lens of Bernstein’s photos and provided a unique insight.

Bernstein is scheduled to be inducted into the California Sports Hall of Fame on June 30 and will announce his retirement after 43 years during the ceremony. Bernstein’s focus will now shift to other commitments and projects, including collaborating with Vanessa on a book documenting all of the Kobe and Gianna Bryant murals around the world.

In a press release, it was announced that Bernstein and Legends Of Sport are currently collaborating with Vanessa on the book, which is scheduled to be released on August 24, 2025.

Very few sports deaths have caused the kind of global reaction that Kobe’s did. He was such a beloved figure and the tragedy that claimed the lives of him, his daughter Gigi and seven others sent shockwaves around the world.

The many tributes and murals that have been created since her death have been truly beautiful and inspiring. They have served as a testament to the impact Kobe had, and having Vanessa and Bernstein come together to shed more light on her is a wonderful idea.

The strength Vanessa Bryant has shown after the loss of her husband and daughter is immeasurable and this book by her and Bernstein is eagerly awaited around the world.

Lakers’ Anthony Davis says Kobe Bryant taught him how to be a pro

Of course, Kobe Bryant’s influence is still felt by many current NBA players, one of them being current Lakers star Anthony Davis. The two played together on Team USA in 2012, with Davis joining the team immediately after being drafted into the NBA without ever having set foot on an NBA court.

As a young 19-year-old, Davis barely knew how to conduct himself in the league, and he thanks Kobe for showing him that during their time in Spain. Davis said Kobe’s work ethic and his training and grooming really showed him how to be a professional in the future, and he is eternally grateful for that.
