Reynaldo López and the Braves aim for a series win against the Phillies

The Atlanta Braves will look to secure a series victory when they complete a three-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday afternoon at Truist Park. The Braves lost the opener 8-6 on Friday, but bounced back to win 5-1 on Saturday thanks to a strong performance from Spencer Schwellenbach. Reynaldo López will start for Atlanta on Sunday, while Philadelphia will start with right-hander Michael Mercado.

Lopez will look to get back on track on Sunday against the Phillies after showing signs of fatigue in recent starts. He has done an excellent job of damage control but has had to deal with a lot of baserunners, leading to higher pitch counts in early games. Lopez has not pitched past fifth base in any of his last three starts. He has allowed two runs and matched his season high with four walks in 4 games. 13 innings in his last game against the Giants. Lopez has allowed eight hits and eight walks in his last nine innings. 13 innings, but only allowed four runs during that time.

Mercado will make his second start of the season after being called up due to injuries to Taijuan Walker and Spencer Turnbull. He pitched well in his first start of the season on July 2, limiting the Cubs to two hits and one run in five innings, throwing 78 pitches.

The Braves scored five more runs on Saturday and now have 11 in the series. They passed Ranger Suárez with three runs in the first inning thanks to a run-scoring single from Ozzie Albies and a three-run home run from Marcell Ozuna. Albies added a two-run home run of his own in the fifth inning to round out the scoring. After not hitting a home run in 11 straight games, Ozuna homered in both games of the series and drove in five runs to reclaim the NL lead with 72 RBIs.

First pitch on Sunday is scheduled for 1:35 p.m. ET and can be seen on Bally Sports Southeast.
