Love Island’s Bergie shares his opinion on why voting is ‘kind of important’ on the show

Love Island producers may have more control over the vote than fans think, and Bergie admitted they are being strategic to make sure their plans work

Bergie told The Mirror more about voting on Love Island

Bergie admitted that Love Island producers have quite a lot of control over who goes home.

On Love Island, the bombshells in the villa are often asked to vote for one of their own. However, Bergie explained to The Mirror US that producers have specific “storylines” they want to follow. Allowing them to vote amongst themselves, however, becomes problematic as it hinges on uncertainty that could ruin their entire production schedule.

Bergie said: “I think after Casa, our votes will actually mean something. Our votes kind of count now, but actually they don’t because production will find a way to frame the vote so that the islanders send home the people they want to get rid of.”

He further explained that the votes take place at strategic times when the producers already know which way everyone’s votes are going to go. This allows them to continue to build voting and the sense of randomness into the show without destroying the storyline they are building.

Bergie added, “That happened all the time on my season too. I think production has their storylines and they know whether they’re letting the boys or girls vote, so they know who everyone is voting for. So they set it up so that people stay there, which is what production wants, until we get to the final eight couples.”
