Saskatchewan is in the Taylor Swift era as the #BacktoSaskatch campaign takes over.

The team at Cedar Creek Gardens wanted to join in the fun and enter their “corn age.”

They have added a Taylor Swift component to their annual corn maze.

Taylor Crassweller, self-proclaimed “Imagineer” at Cedar Creek Gardens, said the entire staff is behind the idea.

“We thought it would be a cool opportunity to do something big that would get noticed,” he said.

“Everyone was on board and everyone is excited about the chance that we might reach Taylor and she might come back for another concert.”

The last time Swift performed in Saskatchewan was in 2009 at the Craven Country Jamboree, now known as Country Thunder Saskatchewan.

The corn maze has a different theme every year.

“This year we saw the #BacktoSaskatch movement going on and we thought we could do something along those lines,” he said.

“I thought I’d keep it simple, leave out the hashtag, and then add my own little twist with the ‘Corn Era Tour’ and add a microphone. We just wanted to contribute to this movement in our own little way.”

The entire maze will not be designed in Swift style, but Crassweller said more components will be added.

“There might be a few little hidden Easter eggs for the Taylor Swift stuff, but the rest of the maze itself will have a different theme,” he said.

Taylor Swift is a big fan of incorporating hidden messages into her songs and different eras.

The grand opening of the labyrinth is planned for sometime in August.

“It depends on the weather,” said Crassweller. “I think with the weather we’re having at the moment, it will be more like mid-August.”

Crassweller said there are many Swifties at Cedar Creek Gardens because she is surrounded by three sisters and almost entirely female staff.

He is optimistic that the campaign will catch the attention of the “Shake it off” singer.

“I think the movement has had a big impact and a lot of different things are happening,” he said.

“I’m optimistic that if we get enough people behind it, she’ll see it and that she’ll be passionate about giving us another show.”
