Chris Brown’s brutal dig at Channel 10 in the premiere of “Dancing With The Stars”

After weeks of promotion, the new season of Dancing with the stars began on Sunday evening with the first joint moderation by long-time presenter Sonia Kruger and Chris Brown. Bondi Vet Star left Channel 10 exactly a year ago to join Seven and currently hosts both the dance competition and renovation series Dream home on the network.

While things seemed to end amicably between Chris and Channel 10, the presenter was sent off with a sweet tribute. I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! Last year he couldn’t help but appear in the premiere episode of Dancing with the stars.

At the beginning of the episode, Sonia stated that all the contestants were safe and “nobody is going home tonight.” After Chris jokingly misunderstood that he was also “safe” and couldn’t be fired on the first night of his new gig, Sonia claimed that only the dancers could be voted out and that she and Chris were “as safe as you can be in the entertainment industry.”

“Cheers to Channel 10,” Chris remarked, making the audience laugh.

The comment presumably referred to the fact that Chris’ former employer had canceled several shows in recent months, causing several well-known TV personalities to lose their jobs.

The network confirmed in May that both The bachelor And The Masked Singer would not return in 2024, while Yahoo Lifestyle revealed exclusively that the reboot of Gladiators was also canceled after only one season.

Elsewhere in the first episode, Chris mentioned that his previous role at Channel 10’s The living room made him a “rival” with DWTS Candidate and Better homes and gardens Moderator Adam Dovile.

“Well, Adam, we have to state the obvious,” he said. “We were television rivals for many, many years in the unforgiving, brutal world of Friday night lifestyle television.”

“It’s hard to look you in the eyes, the anger is so deep. But I can’t stay angry with you, look at that smile!”

BUSINESS:

Sonia also made several jabs during the episode, including at former judge Todd McKenney, who retired from the show this year.

Lisa McCune’s dance partner Ian Waite joked that the reason he appears on both Dancing with the stars in Australia and Be sure to come and dance in the UK is because he is on a dance exchange programme and they “send the rejected back there”.

“Did Todd go there?” Sonia remarked.
