M. Night Shyamalan has revealed that Taylor Swift was the inspiration for his new film

Taylor Swift served as an unexpected muse for M. Night Shyamalan’s latest film, “Trap.”

The chilling film is set in the middle of a pop concert where cops set up an elaborate trap to catch a serial killer. Shyamalan shared his unique proposal with Empire magazine: “What if ‘Silence of the Lambs’ happened at a Taylor Swift concert?”

He revealed details about directing an entire concert scene, emphasizing its central role in the film: “I directed an entire concert! And it wasn’t just a background thing. It’s just as important. There’s no fake concert. I love the idea of cinema as a window within windows. One of the reasons to watch the film in the cinema is that there is literally a real concert that you can’t see anywhere except in this film.”

Shyamalan is a strong advocate of originality in cinema and has expressed his commitment to fresh storytelling: “I really believe in the original film. I want the industry to move more towards original storytelling. I think audiences would really like that. Look, I know intellectual property is safe. But it’s really important that we come to the cinema and see something we’ve never seen before. I’m going to keep fighting for that.”

In “Trap,” the character of pop star Lady Raven is played by none other than Shyamalan’s own daughter, Saleka Shyamalan, whose budding music career also played a role in shaping the plot.

Josh Hartnett, who stars in the film, previously described it to IndieWire as “very dark” and stressed his desire for variety in his roles: “It’s a turning point. But I try to make all of my roles turning points. If you play the same thing over and over again, it gets boring for the audience.”

The Hollywood actor praised Shyamalan’s artistic ability and enthused: “Working with M. Night was one of the best experiences of my career. I think he is a true artist in the truest sense of the word.”
