Shania Twain fans in tears as singer brings her 81-year-old superfan on stage at Lytham Festival

Shania Twain was praised for surprising an 81-year-old superfan during her show at the Lytham Festival.

The 58-year-old country pop star was performing at the festival in Lancashire on Thursday night (July 4) when she asked a local man named Ken Northall to come on stage with her.

Twain then performed a special version of her 1997 hit “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” replacing Brad Pitt’s name with Ken’s in the lyrics.

After the performance, Twain wrote on X/Twitter and Instagram: “Okay, so you’re Ken? I’m really impressed!”

“For anyone who wasn’t at my show last night, this is Ken! He has travelled all over the world to see me play over the years and I was able to return the favour by travelling to play in beautiful Lytham.”

“This time he just had to drive the bus to my show!” she added.

Fans immediately praised Twain for the move: “Ken is adorable, what an incredible experience for him,” one wrote.

“I’ve cried about six times watching the video with him,” another fan added.

Twain’s appearance in Lancashire comes after their recent Legends slot appearance at Glastonbury Festival, which was plagued by sound problems.

She played on the final day of the Worthy Farm event, drawing huge crowds following her headlining performances by Dua Lipa and Coldplay on Friday and Saturday.

Unfortunately, Twain’s performance seemed to be marred by technical issues, as she was seen fiddling with her in-ears and microphone during the first two songs.

Fans posted their frustration online while tuning in to the performance on the BBC.

“Oh my goodness the timing of the vocals is not optimal for Shania, that’s not great from the mixing desk,” posted one fan on X/Twitter.

“Whoever works on the sound team should be fired… it’s clear there is something wrong with Shania considering how much she was playing with her in-ears and mic pack…” one person wrote.

“Come on Glastonbury, get the sound right for Shania,” said another on X/Twitter. “She’s a fighter so keep going but she deserves better than this!”
