Ariana Grande says she changes her voice ‘on purpose’: VIDEO

Pop icon Ariana Grande revealed some of the reasons behind her fluctuating tone of voice, confirming that her fans were not just imagining things.

The Grammy-winning singer was a guest at Penn Badgley’s Podcrushed Podcast and discussed a variety of topics, including why she prefers to cast her music videos with actors who have played serial killers, including Badgley.

One moment, however, that caused a stir on social media was her tendency to fluctuate between a deep and high voice during the interview.

A user on X (formerly Twitter) shared a sample of Grande’s striking voice change from the interview and the message went viral.

You can hear it in the clip below.

According to the “Thank U, Next” singer, it is a conscious decision.

Pop Crave shared a comment Grande left in response to the uproar surrounding the viral TikTok video of the interview.

She wrote:

“Habit (of speaking like this for two years) and also vocal health.”

“I intentionally change my vocal pitch (high/low) often, depending on how much I sing.”

“I’ve always done that, BYE”

She said what she said.

Fans shared their observations on the phenomenon.

Grande has previously discussed her approach to maintaining vocal health.

While the clip went viral, another X-user pointed to a 10-year-old video in which Grande explains:

“I’m speaking in a slightly higher position than usual because I’ve been doing a lot of interviews all day and I’m trying to keep my voice healthy.”

Then she humbly admitted: “But I sound like an idiot.”

In November, Grande will appear in the film adaptation of the Broadway musical Evil based on the novelWicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire, based on the characters from The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

She will play Galinda Upland, the “Good Witch” alongside Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba Thropp, known as the Wicked Witch of the West.

The musical fantasy film will be released in two parts, with the premiere of the first part scheduled for November 27, 2024, followed by Wicked: Part Two planned for November 2025.
