Taylor Swift said she “doesn’t really like” keeping her relationship with ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn a secret.
The Grammy winner, 34, has been publicly showing her affection for her new boyfriend Travis Kelce, also 34, since the two began dating last year, but stayed out of the spotlight from 2016 to 2023 when she dated British actor Joe, 33.
In an interview that resurfaced on Wednesday (17.04.24) and has since gone viral, she said: “It all depends on who you’re with. If they have a serious problem with it, then you hide, I guess, or whatever. But I don’t really like that.”
“It makes me feel like I’m running from the law or something. I don’t want to feel like a fugitive. Like, ‘Oh my God, we’re in a relationship. You better put on a mask and stuff.'”
Taylor added that her dream romance would be “normal”: “That would be good. I’d just rather live my life.”
She and Joe were often seen shielding their faces from fans and photographers in public.
In contrast, she kisses Travis regularly – and stormed the field to smooch the athlete earlier this year when his team won the Super Bowl.
The resurfaced video clip also included footage of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis talking about how they deal with paparazzi.
He added: “It’s just (Taylor’s fame). There are a lot of people who care about Taylor, and for good reason.”
Rumors of a romance between Taylor and Travis first emerged in September 2023, five months after news broke that she had split from Joe.
And in the last month alone, the couple has shown their feelings for each other on vacation in the Bahamas and at the Coachella music festival.
Ahead of the release of her latest album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” on Friday (19.04.24), her fans have revisited her relationship with Joe – because they are convinced that it will contain references to the failed romance.
The fifth track on the album, “So Long, London,” is said to be a reference to Taylor’s time in her ex’s home country.
