Austin Green continues to shine in limited Xfinity Series action

Austin Green has only made four Xfinity Series starts so far in 2024, but every time he takes to the track he turns heads.

Saturday at the Chicago Street Course was another strong day for the 23-year-old driver, who went from 19th to 10th over the course of the 50 laps of Loop 110, earning his third top-10 finish in four starts in 2024.

What makes Green’s performances so impressive is the fact that he usually has to drive through the field to get to the front. Saturday’s 19th-place start was his best qualifying performance in four starts, and while he probably wants to improve on his qualifying performance, it usually seems to work out.

At COTA – Green’s Xfinity Series debut – he started 25th and finished seventh. At Portland, he started 26th and finished 15th. And at Sonoma, he fought through the carnage and made a late top-five finish, securing fourth place.

Saturday’s Loop 110 was just another example of what most in the NASCAR world already know: Green clearly has a ton of talent just waiting to be fully recognized. His Jordan Anderson Racing cars are certainly not the worst, but Green has consistently outpaced his teammates in races in terms of speed.

If you give Green the chance – either full-time or part-time – to work for a top team, it is not unreasonable to assume that he could be a contender for multiple race wins.

Until he gets that chance, Green’s true potential in NASCAR is pure speculation.

The next Xfinity Series road race is at Watkins Glen on September 14th, and if Green gets another chance to get behind the wheel of the No. 32 car, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him impress again.
