Akshay Kumar donates INR 2.5 million to help singers in need

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar has donated Rs 2.5 million to popular Punjabi singer Glory Bawa, daughter of legendary folk singer Gurmeet Bawa, after she asked for financial support on social media.

Glory Bawa had reported on her financial difficulties on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) and asked the Indian government for help.

When Akshay Kumar learned about her plight, he decided to offer her his support immediately.

Expressing his feelings, Kumar said that he considers Glory Bawa as his sister and feels it is his duty to help her.

“I came to know through social media that the family of Gurmeet Bawa, a pillar of Punjabi music, was in financial trouble. I considered Glory Bawa as my sister and sent her the money to fulfil my duty,” Kumar said in an interview with Indian media.

Glory Bawa expressed her deep gratitude and stressed that Kumar’s generosity had a great meaning for her and her family. She also mentioned that she has received more offers of help following her appeal and hopes to find work in the music industry soon.
