War Of Will takes over Vernon function

War of the Will (CaptaintreacherousLeon Bailey) wins the $7,500 harness race on Vernon Downs on Saturday (July 6).

Le Massif (Steeven Genois) took the lead and reached the quarter in :28.2. He used a second quarter in :29.1 to reach the halfway point first in :57.3. He managed three quarters in 1:25.0.

In the homestretch, War Of Will ($7.70) made a three-way charge on Le Massif. War of Will passed him right by and won in 1:52.4. Le Massif had to settle for second place. Galactic Storm (Jimmy Whittemore) took third.

War Of Will is a 5-year-old gelding owned by Robert Bradley and trained by Jeff Sorenson. It was his third win of the season. He now has nine career wins.

Leon Bailey, Jimmy Whittemore, Josh Kinney and Steeven Genois all hid doubles in driving. Jeff Sorenson, Gary Gibson and Joe Sansone all had doubles in practice.

Live racing will resume at Vernon Downs on Thursday (July 11) at 4 p.m. There will be no racing on Friday (July 12) due to the Night Ranger concert.
