The two men, both 20 years old, were lying in the street and had suffered significant knife wounds when officers found them around 6:13 p.m. when they rushed to the 2400 block of West Valencia Street, where a fight had been reported, police said.

The officer performed life-saving measures on both men and took them to medical treatment. One of them died at a nearby hospital, police said, while the other man is expected to survive.

The suspect is still at large, police said.

Based on initial investigations, homicide detectives believe that the stabbing could be related to gang crime.
