When Taylor Swift took the stage in Amsterdam this Saturday, she sang her 2006 number “Mary’s Song” for the first time in 16 years.

The 34-year-old pop star hadn’t sung the song live since 2008, when she performed it at McKenzie Arena in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Now, however, she has added the song back into her repertoire, in a medley with her 2012 single “Everything Has Changed” and her new song “So High School.”

When she launched into Mary’s Song on stage in Amsterdam this Saturday night, her fans were overjoyed at the unexpected connection between the number and Taylor’s budding romance with NFL heartthrob Travis Kelce.

One of the lyrics has now taken on special meaning because of Taylor’s relationship with Travis, who accompanied her on stage that evening in Amsterdam.

In the song, Taylor sings to the object of her desire: “I’ll be 87, you’ll be 89. I’ll still be looking at you like the stars shining in the sky. Oh, my goodness, my goodness…”

Travis’ number with the Kansas City Chiefs is 87, while Taylor was famously born in 1989, which is also the title of one of her most popular albums.

“Mary’s Song” was included on Taylor’s eponymous debut album, released in 2016 when she was still an aspiring teenage country star.

Taylor and Travis delighted the singer’s crowd of Dutch fans as they left the stage hand-in-hand on Saturday, the final night of their Eras tour shows in Amsterdam.

The Kansas City Chiefs star reunited with his girlfriend in the Dutch capital on Friday night, after recently attending shows in London and Dublin during his European tour this summer.

Kelce played golf with Chiefs teammate Patrick Mahomes in London on Thursday before flying to the Netherlands to support Swift.

His presence on Friday night was confirmed when Swift performed “Karma” and sang “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs” – which she usually only does when Kelce is there.

The tight end was joined by Mahomes and his wife Brittany in their hospitality suite at Saturday’s show, but made sure to stand by the side of the stage to accompany his girlfriend backstage.

When she debuted Mary’s Song on stage in Amsterdam on Saturday night, fans were thrilled by the unexpected connection to Travis Kelce, who was pictured with her in January.

The fans waiting in the wings eagerly awaited the couple marching ahead of them and went wild when they finally appeared.

Kelce cheered on his lover, waving his arms in the air to signal further cheers from the crowd.

Swift walked hand in hand and continued to enjoy the admiration as she waved goodbye to her Dutch fans as she prepares to take her show to another city.

Mahomes and his wife, meanwhile, were spotted in their hospitality seats and shared by eagle-eyed Swifties, with videos of the couple singing and swaying along to Swift’s numerous hits while Kelce could be seen behind them belting out the lyrics.

One time, the two high school sweethearts shared a sweet, loving moment where Brittany laid her head on her husband’s shoulders.

Brittany also shared a Boomerang photo of herself and a friend beaming as they headed to the concert, then posted a clip of Swift singing her hit “22” with Patrick seemingly singing along in the background.

Despite his presence in Amsterdam, there was no repeat of Kelce’s stage performances at Swift’s Wembley show last month.

He sent London fans into a frenzy when he appeared on stage as part of the backing dance group on the third night of Swift’s sold-out Eras tour.

Amid the cheers of the 90,000 spectators, he even lifted Swift off her feet and carried her across the stage.

Kelce spoke about the viral moment for the first time on the New Heights podcast on Wednesday and even hinted that this might not be his last appearance on the tour.

“A big thank you to Tay for letting me storm her stage,” he said. “Who knows, maybe this won’t be the last time you see me out there dancing.”

“You’ll just have to keep buying those Eras tour tickets to see if I magically appear from under the stage or something.”

His brother Jason countered, “A little taste, eh? What will he do next? What crazy nonsense will Taylor let him get away with this time?”

Travis replied, “Yeah, I warned them. I said, ‘Look, when I get comfortable, I’ll stop following the script and start freestyling.’ That’s a Travis thing, you wouldn’t understand.”

On social media, fans immediately began speculating about when the next appearance might take place, with many believing it would have to be in the next three weeks before Travis returns to Kansas City to begin training camp for the NFL season.

During this podcast recording, Swift’s fans were convinced that the singer was in the same room with Kelce.

The Chiefs tight end appeared to look sideways from the camera and smile during the shot. Attentive fans noticed Travis’ slight grin and assumed the Grammy winner was watching him film the show.

“Who are you looking at Trav?” wrote one fan on X alongside a clip of the sweet moment.

“It’s so funny how obvious it is that he’s looking at her because of the way he looks over and his smile,” another reacted to the video.

A third wrote: “Okay, usually when people on the podcast say he’s looking at them, I realize that’s not true, but this time… yes.”

The happily in love couple is currently enjoying a little break between Swift’s tour performances, but their time together is running out as the new NFL season draws ever closer.

After Amsterdam, Taylor will then move on to Zurich and Milan before traveling to Germany in mid-July.

Training camp for Kelce and the Chiefs begins July 20, but he will return to U.S. soil July 10-14 for the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament.

After the Lake Tahoe tournament ends, Kelce has six days before he has to return to work, meaning he could well return to Europe to take part in the July 17, 18 and 19 exhibitions in Gelsenkirchen.
