The Green Lantern mythology is extensive, making it difficult for one film to cover all the essential aspects. Of course, the tone of a prestigious HBO show will be different than that of a Cartoon Network animated series, but Green Lantern: The Animated Series is a fantastic reference point when creating a series that focuses on the group of heroes.

What Green Lantern: The Animated Series succeeded, and what Lanterns was the fantastic character work that allowed the audience to immerse themselves in the story. Hal Jordan was at his best in the series and the sprawling Green Lantern universe was explored to an impressive extent during the show’s run. If Lanterns is able to put a similar emphasis on the strong character development of Hal Jordan and John Stewart and also explore the vast world of the Green Lantern Corps just as effectively, it could be a strong project for the DCU.
